For extreme temperatures, Burberry suggests putting on expressive outerwear.

In his nearly year-long tenure at Burberry, Daniel Lee, the creative director of the esteemed British Fashion House, has embraced the role of an anthropologist, delving deep into the brand's heritage and Britain's cultural DNA. His approach involves crafting innovative designs by melding these two elements. For instance, his debut collection paid homage to Burberry's roots as a pioneer in technical outerwear during the early 20th century. Furthermore, Lee's previous collection showcased his experimentation with fresh silhouettes for the iconic trenches. At Burberry's Autumn/Winter 2024 show in London's Victoria Park, outerwear once again took centre stage, alongside classic handbags and boots &mdash; specialty categories that Lee has expertly honed.

Rooted in a palette of earthy tones like neutral browns, olive greens, and khakis, this collection prioritized outerwear while carefully considering accessories. Plaid trench coats were cinched at the back, paired with chunky little puffer jackets sporting satchel bags, while beige pinstripe suits made a strong statement. Turtlenecks were tucked in, complementing long maxi skirts and sweaters adorned with chunky, fluffy fringe that gracefully swayed on the runway. Recurring themes included plaid pants with matching scarves, abstract leopard print blouses doubling as scarves, and coats featuring curly fabric details. Despite its utilitarian approach, the collection didn't skimp on details: think exposed zippers, oversized furry hood trims, aviator sunglasses, and an unexpected addition&mdash;the umbrella. Burberry also showcased a variety of bag trends for the upcoming season, featuring enormous duffels and shoulder bags designed to fit just about anything. The designer's boundless vision for Burberry shows no signs of slowing down, suggesting that he could be the catalyst for transformative change within the century-old fashion powerhouse.
