Fireworks viewing is one of the best things to do in Japan during the summer season. All around the country, cities of all sizes host their own version of the event. You will get to see people dressed in yukata roaming the streets, dotted with brightly coloured stalls selling snacks and providing fun games and activities. Where will you see the best fireworks? That&rsquo;d be the Omagari Fireworks Festival in Akita Prefecture, the Tsuchiura All Japan Fireworks Competition in Ibaraki Prefecture, and The Nagaoka Fireworks Festival in Niigata Prefecture.

HIKES
Many different trails exist for avid mountaineers to choose from. Some are difficult and should only be attempted by experienced hikers, while others have various routes catered for hikers of all skill levels. Hiking provides an exciting new perspective on Japan, especially with its natural phenomena. Kamikochi in the northern Japanese Alps, Mt. Kita in the southern Japan Alps of Yamanashi prefecture, and the Shiretoko Peninsula on the eastern edge of Hokkaido, home to several magnificent summits, including Mt. Rausu, provide less crowded excursions than the one at Mt. Fuji.

MARINES
Located in Kochi&rsquo;s Ashizuri-Uwa Kai National Park, Tatsukushi Bay is a picturesque destination for watersports like glass-bottom boat excursions, snorkelling, kayaking, and scuba diving. Kamogawa Seaworld in Chiba is also a marine conservation and research institution, with over 11,000 animals representing 800 species in naturalistic environments. The Underwater Viewing Boat Amanbow offers a one-of-a-kind cruise experience to visitors who wish to witness Saburoiwa, a trio of underwater rock pinnacles, as well as underwater views of fish and seaweed through the boat&rsquo;s wide picture windows. Okinawa is famous for its sea grapes, bitter melon, and pork ribs, as well as its beaches, clean canals, lush jungles, and distinctive traditions.
