The glorious chrysanthemum takes centre-stage on this new King Seiko.

The slim King Seiko SJE095, featuring a beautifully intricate patterned dial, captures the essence of the Tokyo area where King Seiko was born in the 1960s. Its white dial showcases a chrysanthemum pattern, inspired by one of Japan's national flowers, symbolizing longevity and rejuvenation. The auspicious flower holds great cultural significance and, on this watch, is represented through the "kiku tsunagi-mon" pattern. This is where the chrysanthemum design seamlessly connects with itself, as denoted in Japanese. Furthermore, this pattern finds its strong association with edo-kiriko glassware, a traditional form of cut glass celebrated as one of Japan's most cherished craftworks. The latter is well-known for its intricate beauty and unique designs achieved through expert glass cutting techniques.

Drawing inspiration from the 1965 King Seiko KSK, the watch's design indeed pays homage to the original's defining features, characterized by its sharp, angular case and exceptional functionality. The cases exhibit angular facets with large, flat surfaces and crisp edges, meticulously polished to create a visually pleasing interplay of light. In perfect synergy with the case, the new watch introduces faceted hour and minute hands, showcasing the precision and craftsmanship emblematic of modern Seiko manufacturing. These hands seamlessly complement the intricately detailed chrysanthemum pattern on the dial. After all, the flower is a symbol deeply rooted in Japanese culture and traditional artistry. Bringing it all together, the fusion of the case, hands, and intricate dial elevates this King Seiko to new heights of elegance and refinement.

Utilising Seiko's sleeker calibre 6L35, the updated timepiece boasts a slimmer profile compared to the initial King Seiko KSK, even when incorporating automatic winding and date display functions. This is made possible due to the improvements in its case design. Also included with the watch is an extra grey leather strap that harmonises with the patterned dial in both colour and texture. Additionally, the case back features the King Seiko name and the same shield design as the original model.
