Dior Carlo shoes get an innovative upgrade

Stunning designs, crafted with the skill and precision of haute couture standards.

“The cycle of the fashion house is about regeneration and rejuvenation, just like the cycle of fashion itself. There is aways something of the past in the present and future and Dior is no different. In this collection, we wanted to look at the regeneration of the house after the dad of Mr Dior, and its rejuvenation with Yves Saint Laurent — his chosen heir — drawing a parallel in literature, through imagery and themes in The Waste Land. It’s where an old world meets a new one, in change and in flux,” creative director Kim Jones set the premise for his Dior Men Autumn/Winter collection, where the reimagined Dior Carlo shoes made an appearance.

In 1946, Christian Dior opened his eponymous design brand, and by the early 1950s, the Maison had expanded its goods to include men's clothing and accessories, including shoes, which was when the Dior Carlo first appeared on the market. As a result of their innovative style, premium materials, and meticulous construction, Dior Carlo quickly garnered a devoted fan base of fashionistas and celebrities alike. Today, the latest iteration of the legendary Dior Carlo shoes is made utilising 3D printing technology. From the sketching to the painstaking polishing stage that shows off the full complexity of the recyclable material, they undergo an intriguing dialogue between the now and the then, at every step of the way. The stunning designs, crafted with the skill and precision of haute couture standards, are elevated by fine details like the Dior logo on the rear of the heel.
