K11 defines art of living
The ultimate 5-star artisanal residence in Hong Kong.
When it comes to opulence, Hong Kong is in a league of its own – and K11 ARTUS is one of its most recent examples. With breathtaking views of Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong Island, K11 ARTUS is perched above the art museum-retail pioneer K11 MUSEA in Victoria Dockside, Tsim Sha Tsui, and is conveniently located near Nathan Road, a popular shopping street in Hong Kong, Avenue of Stars, and the Hong Kong Cultural Centre.
Upon arrival, the welcoming staff brings guests to the lifts, and from there they are taken to the 10th floor, where they are greeted by a bright lobby that doubles as a common area. Bursting with natural light, it’s adorned with tropical plants, books, a giant chess set and pieces of art from owner Adrian Cheng’s collection which bestow the space the air of a gallery. The electrifying vibe can’t help but leave an impression. Those wishing to unplug and relax will without a doubt feel at home in the quiet, relaxed setting.
Fun fact: each art piece is selected jointly with the K11 Craft & Guild Foundation, a non-profit art foundation set up by Cheng himself. Advocating for the preservation of Chinese craftsmanship, the concept of K11 ARTUS is to collaborate with an exclusive group of artisans who share K11’s commitment to conserving traditional craftsmanship while K11 ARTUS provides the environment that empowers the cultural exploration and exchange.
Speaking of which, the K11 Craft & Guild Foundation has curated the “Voyage de Savoir-Faire” exhibition in Guangzhou. Running until the end of June at the K11 Art Mall, it showcases numerous sets of gilt-decorated black lacquer pieces in five thematic sections, is a harmonious combination of rare antiques and immersive, interactive stations. The journey commences with Dérive where Cheng virtually transports guests to the late 17th century with stories of Chinese traditional craft and how it captivated Europe. The second section, Voyage, shows the sea route that connected China and Europe, particularly during the era of Emperor Kangxi and King Louis XIV of France.
The exhibition then continues with Rêve, a multi-sensory installation with eye-catching video panels. The key section lies in the Savoir-faire, which emphasises the preservation of Chinese artistry such as lacquerware antiques as well as interactive stations that demonstrate the manufacturing process of gilt-decorated black lacquer. Last but not least, Au-delà du Rêve, decorated with both modern and traditional artworks, symbolises the resurgence of gilt-decorated art. After Guangzhou, the exhibition is set to travel to Wuhan, Paris and other global cities. In the meantime, there are also K11 Craft & Guild Foundation collections displayed at K11 MUSEA.

Flaunting either a jaw-dropping sea or metropolitan view, all of the rooms feature a full kitchen, a dining table, a comfortable sofa (ideal for hosting), a walk-in wardrobe, a sizeable bathroom, a king-size bed, and a balcony which is a rarity seen in hotels these days, especially in Hong Kong as well as extending so close towards the harbour for an even more up close and personal experience. The rooms were created by André Fu, an influential Hong Kong-based interior architect who is famed for his relaxed luxury aesthetic and are decked out in charming ornaments and artwork as well as stealth tech, while architecture and design coffee table books have been carefully selected to add character and depth to their surroundings.
All meals are served at The Commune, with spectacular sight of the harbour as a side dish. The breakfast offerings include a modest assortment of fruit, yoghurt and pastries, and guests may order one of the four breakfast sets: Chinese, Western, Tonic and Speed Boarding, served with a drink and a small buffet of fruits. There are also lunch sets and a variety of salivating a-la-carte dishes that are crafted to be shared, which could be found on the menu.
On the 11th floor, guests will find a fully equipped 24-hour fitness centre and a 25-metre infinity rooftop pool with cabanas and loungers enveloped within lots of greenery, all of which not only offer guests beautiful vistas over East Tsim Sha Tsui but also an ideal spot for some quiet sunbathing.
